P & C

Purpose

Our school Parents and Citizens (P&C) organisation exists to promote the interests of the school through co-operation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general community. The P&C raises money to assist in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school, and organises events and activities to foster community interest in educational matters.

Activities

The P&C is run solely through the energy and commitment of our parents and caregivers. It was a strange year in 2020  but we are proud of how the P&C made things work! In 2021 we are aiming to spend some of our hard-earned fundraising cash and install new playground areas at the school.

So far in 2021, we have had a Slip and Slide water fun community picnic for families at the beginning of Term 1. Our Beacy Dads have organised a dads and kids camp, which is looking likely to sell out – 84 families attending!  Coming up we hope to repeat last year’s triumphs, the  school disco and parent quiz night, in addition to fundraising towards the final costs of the playground.

We are always looking for new ideas for events or fundraising activities and volunteers for upcoming events, so please come to the meetings or email us if you have any ideas!

Communications

The P&C communicates with parents through several different forums.

Beacy P&C meetings are held twice each term from 7:30 – 9:00 pm in the staff room. Minutes from P&C meetings are sent out via email to all P&C members. Membership is only $1, so other than attending the meeting, this is the best way to stay completely informed.

We also have a parent from each class who volunteers to be a class representative. This involves staying in touch with all the parents in your class and ensuring they are kept up to date with the latest P&C news and activities. https://beaconsfield-primary-school-pc-association.square.site/

Regular P&C newsletters and notices will also go out via the schools ‘Connect’ app and on the ‘Beacy Parents’ Facebook page. Note that this page is for school parents and carers only so you will need to complete a quick survey to join.

Any direct queries or ideas please also feel free to contact the P&C via our dedicated email address beacypandc@gmail.com

Recent Projects

In 2020 and so far in 2021, the Beacy P&C supported the school and has been supported by our amazing community through a number of events and fundraisers. These included:

  • Upgrades to the Kindy / Pre-primary Playgrounds (they are amazing)
  • Master Plan for remaining school playground upgrades (2020)
  • The Slip and Slide Community Picnic (2020 and 2021)
  • Sold-out Beacy Dads Rotto camp (Covid cancelled 2020; 2021)
  • Awesome Kids’ Disco (highlight of 2020)
  • Parents Online Auction and Quiz Night (2020)
  • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Stalls (2021; 2020)
  • Containers for Change Bin (2020, 2021)
  • Fundraisers: Hot Cross Buns; Picture Plates; Cookie Dough; Eco-Wraps; Entertainment Books; Wise Wine and more.

In 2021, our focus is on redeveloping remaining playground areas in the school. We have final costs on our Playground Masterplan and aim to work with the school on implementing upgrades as funds become available. New fencing now surrounds the bottom oval and installation of soccer and footy goals, funded in 2018, are getting closer with reticulation works finally completed. Our choir also has some beautiful new shirts, and our interschool sports teams have been ordered. With increasing numbers in Kindy and Pre-primary we have funded some additional readers to help get them reading.

How to donate to the P&C

There are several ways you can donate to the P&C. We ask parents for a $50 donation for each child at the beginning of each year. However, parents can choose to give their year’s total support in one larger donation and are free to donate at any time.

How to donate:

  1. Donate through the early-bird stationery order.
  2. Donate through the school office.
  3. Donate either the $50/per child or give more, if you wish.

This year with thanks to The Local Hotel, Gage Roads Brewery and community donation we have a raffle for all P&C contributions received by the end of Week 5, Term 2. Make sure you have paid your contributions to be in to win one of the following prizes:

  • $150 voucher to The Local Hotel
  • 2 x carton from Gage Road Brewery
  • 1 x Brand New Capino Coffee Capsule Machine
